Ministerial Decision 107 of 2015 issued on 6/5/2015 to continue temporarily ceasing recruitment of non-Omanis in some professions
The Ministry of Manpower has issued Ministerial Decision 107 of 2015 (“MD 107/2015”) which temporarily ceases recruitment of non-Omanis in the private sector. This decision which was effective from 1 May 2015 will last for the period of six months within which period non-Omanis will not be issued visas to work in the following professions: sales person/sales promoter and purchasing agents. The decision, however, is not applicable to certain establishments which include those:
- Registered under the excellent, international and consultancy grade;
- Implementing government projects; and
- Owned by full-time employers registered with the Public Authority for the Development of SMEs and with the Public Authority for Social Insurance.
MD 107/2015 is in continuation of the embargo set out in Ministerial Decision 608 of 2013.
Ministerial Decision 108 of 2015 issued on 6/5/2015 to continue temporarily ceasing recruitment of non-Omanis in some works
Recent Ministerial Decision 108 of 2015 (“MD 108/2015”) provides that recruitment of non-Omanis as construction and cleaning workers in the private sector establishment shall be stopped for a further period of six months from 1 May 2015. The above mentioned MD is in continuation of the embargo set out in the Ministerial Decision 338 of 2014.
MD 108/2015 further states that the visa restrictions shall not be applicable to the establishments registered under the Excellent and International Grades.
